– The Earth Charter Initiative – new phase of the Initiative.
The international Secretariat for the Earth Charter initiative (ECI) will focus on three areas:
(1) Education for more sustainable ways of living;
(2) Networking Earth Charter supporters and likeminded sustainability advocates and activists; and
(3) Dialogue to promote understanding of the ethical dimensions of sustainability and to influence policy and governance to better reflect ethical factors.
This work lies at the intersection of ethics, sustainability, and education, and its application to public dialogue. To facilitate this important work, a new Earth Charter Education Center is about to open at the University for Peace campus in Costa Rica. Also, been selected for a 4yr project: the UNESCO Chair on Education for Sustainable Development and the Earth Charter.
