London Global Table: 26th Nov 2014

MATTERS IN THE AIR

1. NOTE THAT OUR DEC 3rd MEETING WILL BE DEVOTED TO THE ELECTION FORUM – ITS PROGRESS AND PROSPECTS. Please notify me in advance if attending so room size can be checked.

2. Please listen to at least the first 19 mins of an astonishing lecture by Jeremy Rifkin, Economist, Author with prophetic foresight about the interweaving of many trends: Are We Moving from a Capitalist to a Collaborative Economy? (04/09/2014). Even by starting at 13.30 mins in you’d get his astonishing insights in the next 4 mins. It seems to me to be the economic foundation for the necessity of what we are embodying in the 2015 Constitutionalists Charter. He describes ‘Zero Marginal Cost’ transformation and the rapid exponential undermining of capitalism in a 1.08hr lecture with Q and A. ‘Bits to atoms’ on ‘the internet of things’. ‘Social commons’ spreading very rapidly directed to social capital. Its reveune grown at 42% – tradition business at 16%.  While he suggests food and water are the wild card at the heart – climate change may ruin this emergent global consciousness of the human family – the 2015 Charter is evolving as a deeper way to avert the many wild cards that threaten the prospect so clearly anticipated in the lecture: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCLPizjSe6I

3. Outcome and Implications of the Parliamentary debate on Money generated by POSITIVE MONEY: see report: http://globaltable.org.uk/wp/positive-money-debate-in-parliannet-after-170-years.

4.. We would greatly value reports on any of so many significant meetings of recent weeks, such as the new Putney Debates; and notes of dates ahead. Notes on their implications for our 2015CC initiative would help uis in the huge communication trask. See the lifestream from New Putney Debates: http://thenewputneydebates.com/livestream.

5. WE WILL CONTINUE to follow the course of  the 2015 CONSTITUTIONALISTS CHARTER launched at Runnymede on Nov 5th: http://www.2015constitutionalists.uk.

Our London Global Table is a vital enabling partner in this ‘principled pragmatic’ initiative focused first on the Election in May 2015 – now less than six months away. A new Mission statement of the initiative will be finalised this week.

Only 9 replies came from the posting to 197 associates to the questions below. If all recipients reply, we will have a significant understanding of the way forward. If you feel insufficiently informed of the project to answer, then let me know and I will send the introductory Package.

3. The awareness of issues of devolution has spread so rapidly that our contribution has had to be made public more quickly than we anticipated. There has been such a particular flow this last week of information on the activities of associates of the Table, as to make it even clearer how our association is contributing to societal sanity: valuable correspondence is flowing on key issues like;  Devolution ; Implications of ‘Universality’, ‘Inclusiveness’, ‘Value and Dangers of Boundaries’, ‘How to be an umbrella and both invite and acknowledge all contributions’. Further insights on these matters would be gratefully received.
