1. IMMEDIATE SUPPORT FOR ACTIVISTS

a]  The three Spring Conferences have opened up two major directions for some further work. One is with agencies concerned with a middle east solution; and in relation to that the attached statement is in a drafting stage- and any constructive comments would be welcome The second will be with faith leaders and scholars, if we can catch and hold their attention, in order to advance the challenge of recovering the commons ….with the implied redesigns in the economic system. More on progress in both directions as they evolve.

a] WHAT IS BASIC INCOME? The emancipatory Unconditional Basic Income is defined by the following four criteria: universal, individual, unconditional, high enough to ensure an existence in dignity and participation in society. An Unconditional Basic Income (UBI) or Citizen’s Income is a guaranteed income, given to all in addition to any other income they might receive. By advancing equality and economic participation while enabling simpler welfare systems, UBI leads to a fairer and more efficient society. http://basicincome2013.eu/ubi/question/what-is-the-unconditional-basic-income/

4. AREAS FOR DEEPER INVESTIGATION

b] Christianity, Progressive Politics and Social Justice. www.thecsm.org.uk announcing that our member-driven, parallel policy review, is officially underway. Earlier this month, a small group of nine, including six members, two researchers and a manager, gathered to drive the process forward. Because we recognise how difficult it is for many members to make it down to London, and because we want to be as inclusive as possible, the next step is to make our meetings available to everybody online. I am therefore writing to provide you with the link:  http://www.thecsm.org.uk/Articles/355930/Christian_Socialist_Movement/Articles/CSM_Projects_and/CSM_Policy_Review.aspx
