Matters in the Air: 29th Nov 2017

These notes, compiled by Rev Canon Peter Challen, are posted at http://globaltable.org.uk/wp/, to contribute background information for associates of the Global Table. A core meeting continues to host meetings on Wednesdays from 12noon to 2 pm at the School of Economic Science, 11-13 Mandeville Place, W1U 3AJ Meetings are open to all on a drop-in basis. This weekly forum is a persistent focal point for many who cannot often get to London but are encouraged in bold initiatives by association and collaboration. We all continue to foster the public sense of the search for inclusive justice. We are trying to sense the richness of our networking without overburdening with detail. We collaborate in order that action may flow BOTH in specified targeted initiatives AND in acknowledgement of our shared commitment to ending exploitation – usury – now exponentially rampant!  Contact the Open Research Group – org@globaltable.org.uk.

FROM ASSOCIATES AT THEIR POINTS OF WITNESS:

‘PARADIGM SHIFT’ . This shaft of broken text in definition of the shift we need was sent to 14 people in various disciplines and it was interesting that each of the 12 to respond so far, found a different entry point relating to their own conditioning and then to associating with the while context. Poetry, or this kind of broken text, can often stir up a range of conversations through a wide network

 DYING TO BECOME… or…. THE JOBBING THEOLOGIAN IN US ALL

Never impossible – only – not yet achieved.

Within our ‘Future [planetary] Sense’ and ‘Whole Intelligence’,

all is present, flowing, incalculable potential,

‘I am’, in me, becoming all I might be;

You, astonished, reaching beyond your grasp;

We, inspired, transcending conditioning;

 rare hope formulating ordinarily,

as pragmatic purposes

are born again of universal principles.

Thus, rising cosmic consciousness,

enthused in moral imagination,

frames today’s preparation

and each hour’s ensuing act.

Wondering prayerfulness supersedes

 mere mindfulness;

promise, purpose, potential,

all realised, restore the replenishing of earth.

The covenant of everything under the rainbow

thrives in inclusive health and wealth

at last!

It needs no attribution – any intrinsic value found within needs no ownership; it offers a shared place in enduring wisdom as it surfaces again and again through time in ever-new forms.

Alternative Climate Scientists are being threatened with imprisonment: Scientists threatened for ‘climate denial’

CCMJ – ..”the real reason things are so bad is because of usury. And the reason things aren’t getting any better is because no one is talking about what’s really wrong. …… What we accept today as interest was once called usury, and that through most of history almost everyone was against it.” All the great faith traditions forbade usury for thousands of years. The Christian Church emphasised it until ‘Interest’ was watered down to ‘Excessive Interest’ and usury became exponentially disproportionate as a source in undermining justice throughout the human community. Reports on tackling this  prime issue are always welcome:  CCMJ continues to probe and propose a model of an integrated social-political-economy that includes the introduction of Annual Ground Rent, the abolition of Usury and the curtailment of those permanent hierarchies exercising exploitative power over others. www.ccmj.org

CO-OPERATIVE SOCIALISM – this non-hierarchical alternative to capitalism and totalitarianism, continues to campaign for a non-usurious, fair-world approach to the economy, taking forward ideas promoted by CCMJ and The Spirit Level – for background see the papers section of www.interestfreemoney.org.  The campaign website – in development – includes videos by John Courtneidge explaining the proposal:  http://www.co-operativesocialism.org

INDEPENDENT CONSTITUTIONALISTS UK (ICUK): recognises the necessity of dealing with BOTH the need for many urgent palliatives within a dying system, AND a systemic curative re-design by participative representative democratic application of an integrated political-economy of trusteeship. It concentrates on the Meta-Narrative within which the UK could shape all its independent but mutually accountable communities. Curative change to the political-economy like “poetry happens in two stages, like sculpting; first the imagination, then the chisel.” An update of its website is now evolving: http://www.icuk.life.  An informal Strategy Forum meets in central London every Wednesday between 12 and 2pm – you are invited to contact Peter Challen – peterchallen@gmail.com – for latest developments and meeting venue.

Renegade Inc: Monday 27th November 2017: The Tide Has Turned: Take a cursory glance around popular culture and you will quickly notice a well-worn gender lens depicting the sexes. Men are often depicted as dominating Neanderthals who don’t do domesticity or directions, and women are painted as subservient shopaholics with a shoe and chocolate problem. None of this is helpful. Isn’t it time we progressed beyond these damaging marketing memes? On this show, we begin constructive conversation about gender and new leadership styles in a post-alpha male age. Ross Ashcroft is joined by aviator Tracey Curtis Taylor and the chief creative officer at Mr. President, Laura Jordan-Bambach: https://www.rt.com/shows/renegade-inc/411034-shopaholic-popular-culture-marketing/

COLLABORATION:
Over time our weekly forum has considered important aphorisms that help the development of dialogue and takes us into new understandings of the co-operative task. We revisit those guiding thoughts regularly and always value responses about their use, or about any other enduring wisdom relating to collaboration as they flow in around us.
